Forest City Academy didn’t start because we wanted to build another school. It started because we looked at traditional classrooms and realized they were designed for a world that no longer exists—one that expects small children to sit quietly at desks, stare at individual screens, and move only when a bell rings.

We knew there was a better way to protect the magic of childhood while building brilliant, independent thinkers.

So, we built a learning community designed around how kids actually thrive.

Our Core Convictions

Everything we do is guided by four simple truths about children and learning:

1. Kids aren’t meant to sit still all day.

Learning is inherently active, tactile, and social. At Forest City Academy, our days are filled with movement, physical collaboration, child-led play, and outdoor exploration. We trade passive listening for active doing.

2. Learning shouldn't be gated by an arbitrary age.

Traditional systems treat children like spreadsheets, grouping them strictly by birthdate and forcing them to move at a single, rigid pace. We are entirely mastery-based. If a child is ready to dive into multiplication or advanced reading, we let them fly. If they need extra time to perfect a foundational skill, we give them that space. We meet your child exactly where they are.

3. Technology should be a tool, not a babysitter.

We are proudly tech-lite. In a world saturated with digital noise, our K-2 students don't spend their days staring at individual Chromebooks. We prioritize real-world problem solving, three-dimensional building, physical books, and deep human connection.

4. School should feel like an extension of home.

We are a close-knit family of learners. Every single child who walks through our doors is deeply known, safely valued, and individually celebrated for what makes them spark. We partner closely with parents because we believe education is a shared journey.

The Next Chapter

What started as a passionate mission with a tight-knit founding class has grown into a thriving momentum-driven community. Because our model is proven and our family is expanding, we are heading to a premier new campus at the historic Stonebrook building this fall.

We are growing our physical space, but we are keeping our exact same close-knit heart.
